Since I began offering translation services, I have completed hundreds of projects -- some large, some small -- for dozens of clients on a wide range of subjects. Although it would take too long to read about every single project I have completed, on this page you can see some of the main areas in which I have already translated.

Education

Thanks to my time working in-house as the translator of the main institutional website of the Autonomous University of Barcelona, this quickly became my main area of specialisation. Having studied at universities in France and Spain, I already had good knowledge of the two countries' education systems, but my time working as a full-time translator in the field gave me even further knowledge of higher education in Spain and experience translating documents from Spanish and Catalan to English.

This experience has given me the opportunity to translate directly for four other universities, as well as for two others through translation agencies. I have worked not only with documents about higher education, but also academic papers, abstracts, presentations, and information for conferences.

Because of my expertise in the field, I was asked to do a presentation on the language of the European Higher Education Area at the 2008 MET meeting in Split (abstract).

So, if you need any education-related documents translating, whether they are documents related to education or academic papers, I can provide you with the service you need. The many clients I have in this field are testimony to the quality of service I can offer you.

  • SPORT

Sport is often not considered technical translation, and is often thought of as a general subject. But each sport has its own jargon that the translator must be familiar with in both the source and target languages. For example, other languages would refer to Lewis Hamilton as a pilot, but in English he's simply a driver. In English we have various ways of referring to what other languages simply refer to as zero: love in racket sports; a duck in cricket; and nil (British) or zero (American) in other sports. And the languages I translate from don't make the same distinction between a referee and an umpire.

It is therefore essential that sports translations be done by translators with a thorough grasp of the language used both in the sport and by the target audience of the source and target text. Having been an avid fan of most sports since I was a young child, I have acquired excellent knowledge of the language used in sport in English, French, Catalan and Spanish. This, combined with my use of corpus analysis and my previous experience with sports translations means that I can provide you with high-quality translations in the field of sports.

I have already translated for the following international sports events:

    • 2004 Paris Golden League Athletics Meeting
    • 2008 Women's World Handball Championships

I have also translated for smaller events such as the Special Olympics in Lloret de Mar, and have translated individual articles on Formula One, football and sailing events.

If you need translation for an entire event, I can also help you. Thanks to other specialist sports translators and interpreters I know, I can provide you with all the translation services you need for an entire event.

  • BUSINESS, FINANCE AND ECONOMICS

This is a field I have moved into fairly recently, but by using corpus analysis and translation memory I have been able to acquire the necessary expertise. More recently, I have established a good working relationship with the OECD, for which I regularly translate documents from French-English. Over the years, I have done many small translations in this field, ranging from short financial reports to business letters and from press reports to Powerpoint presentations. Because of the large number of documents I have translated, the following list includes only the large projects.
