Specialist fields
At timtranslates.com we are highly specialised in three fields:
Higher educationThe founder of timtranslates.com, Timothy Barton, nurtured his translation skills working in house for the Autonomous University of Barcelona. In two years working for the prestigious Catalan university, he translated all the permanent information on the institutional website (information on courses, enrolment, qualifications required, opportunities for graduates, online services, etc.), as well as updates on activites taking place and the latest research conducted.
This period enabled Timothy to become highly specialised in the type of language used in higher education.
Since 2007, Timothy has also lectured on a part-time basis at the university's Faculty of Translation and Interpreting, teaching Catalan-English translation to undergraduate students. Over the years he has been asked to translate many research articles from colleagues at the faculty and other contacts at Catalan and Spanish universities. This has provided him with vast experience in translating academic research articles.
EconomicsEvery year we contribute to the translation and editing services for the African Economic Outlook publication produced by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development -- better known as the OECD.
In 2010, we translated the country notes for Togo, Chad, Djibouti and Algeria, and edited the notes for Burkina Faso, Morocco and Tunisia.
In 2009, we translated the country notes for Chad, the Republic of Congo, Benin and Algeria.
In 2008, we translated the country notes for Equatorial Guinea.
Since we began collaborating with the OECD, we have also translated various other texts for them. In all, we have translated around 100,000 words and edited a further 20,000 words.
As you can see if you open up the documents, these are highly technical texts in the economics field, enabling us to prove our expertise in translating economics texts for a prestigious organisation that expects the highest possible quality.
SportAt timtranslates.com, we are passionate about sport. People do not normally think of sports translations as being technical translations. But sports translations require just as much specialist knowledge as legal or medical translations.
Over the years we have translated many sports texts, including the Meeting Gaz de France in athletics, the World Handball Chamionships, Renault F1's in-house magazine, various sailing events, the Special Olympics and information about several golf courses in Spain.
Other fieldsOf course we've translated more than just texts on economics, higher education and sport. From food to tourism, from industrial detergents to court rulings, and from archiving systems to graphic design, we've translated in many different fields.
Whatever type of text you need translating, contact us and we will tell you whether we can provide you with the service. If we feel we don't have the expertise to offer a high-quality translation of your document, we will simply tell you.
If you require a translation for a field not mentioned above, send us a portion of the document and if we feel we do not have the expertise to translate it we will endeavour to find a specialist translator from among our team of freelancers.
